Tongji University is located in Shanghai, the largest cultural and financial center in China. It is a large international university with more than 50,000 students and a wide range of programs. The university has a separate College of Design and Innovation whose programs combine traditional Asian vision with modern technology and innovative solutions. Founded in 1956, the Academy offers numerous undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in Chinese and English for students from around the world. Students at the academy can specialize in textile and fashion design, industrial design, craft and ceramics, fine art, advertising design, sculpture, contemporary art and art history. Thanks to the academy’s international ties, students can also receive partial exchange education at universities in Europe and America.
China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing
The Central Academy of Fine Arts of China was founded in 1918 and was the first art school in the country. Nowadays the academy ranks among the top 3 art and design schools in China and remains a major center for the development of traditional Chinese culture. The academy consists of schools of Chinese painting, fine arts, experimental art, humanities, design, architecture, urban design, art administration and pedagogy. It is not easy to get into the academy, it has the most serious selection of students of all the educational institutions in the country, annually the academy rejects more than 90% of the applications. In all, the academy has about 3,800 students, including more than 100 foreigners. The academy also includes a large museum containing more than 13,000 artifacts, including rare paintings on Ming Dynasty scrolls, and a modern library with unique books and art manuals.
