This is a lunch-and-learn presentation that will provide an overview of Silicon Valley Clean Energy, your new energy choices as well as FAQs and more information about CCE’s in general and how it relates to AIA members.

Join the Committee on the Environment in learning more about how Silicon Valley residents now have a choice in their electricity choice.  Silicon Valley Clean Energy Group will present to our participants and answer questions.


Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) aka Community Choice Energy (CCE) is a locally controlled electrical power purchasing alternative to investor-owned utilities like PG&E.  Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is a community-owned agency formed by 11 cities and Santa Clara County to purchase cleaner energy for all residents and businesses. Participants will be able to understand the CCE business model, understand the clean energy market, understand the relationship of CCE with their ultimate customers and relate community role to achieving 100% clean energy.




Alan Suleiman, LEED AP

Silicon Valley Clean Energy


Alan is the director of marketing and public affairs for Silicon Valley Clean Energy, a community choice energy provider for 11 cities and unincorporated areas of the Santa Clara County.  In his role, he directs the agency’s marketing strategy and oversees all customer operations, community outreach, public relations and customer service.


Mr. Suleiman has 30 years of experience as a marketing strategist, electrical engineer, and an educator. He founded the Sacramento Municipal Utility District Energy and Technology Center, an education and demonstration regional center on advanced technologies and energy efficiency, and served as its director for eight years. He also started the Channel Management group focusing on expanding customer channels and implementing a host of programs and self-service options for the electric utility. He also served as SMUD’s Innovation, business development and technology Manager, a customer service strategy group deals with customer communication and transactional channels, business technology and marketing programs and services for conservation, green initiatives, energy efficiency and advanced technologies. He also was an adjunct professor at Sacramento State for 10 years.


Alan has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA in Marketing and product development.  He is CEM, LC and LEED AP.
